Big Game Hunters
Two to watch and one to think about
Hello
Hope you enjoyed the Albert Kidd day cartoons. That’s been one of my favourites to draw. I’m definitely coming to terms with Bloomhearts winning the league. Immersing myself back in 1986 makes me feel that it’s right that they should lay that ghost to rest. In the same way that Leith won the cup in 2016, some things just have to happen eventually.
This weekend will be pivotal. Potentially the last of the pivotal rounds of matches. Bloomhearts have a very tricky game on Saturday night Prime Time at Motherwell.
Win this one and the Jambos are almost home and hosed (yes, I’m sure they said that in 1986 too). On Sunday the Infirm go head to head at Celtic Park. Banana skin for Celtic? A fragile Danny Rohl seems to have lost the Rangers media if not the fans. Marty O’Neill’s mind games are top drawer so expect him to work his magic on poor Danny.
Alternatively, Rangers might play with gay abandon, released from their mental turmoil of expectation. I still think the best Celtic can hope for is to still have a chance on the final day. Away to Motherwell midweek might be even tougher than Rangers.
Down the arse end of the table. Whilst the blockbusters at the top are both on Sky, the battle to avoid 11th place has a genuine six pointer in play at 3pm on Saturday as Paisley Saints host Kilmarnock. Killie’s away form has been brutal and the warriors in black and white will be up for the fight I’m sure.
The playoffs continue too so good luck to all the teams involved in that. I’m hoping Dunfermline can get past Arbroath but I’m not sure one goal was enough on Tuesday.
Enjoy your football weekend.
