Advantage Bloomhearts
Another good weekend for the Edinburgh upstarts
Hello
The weekend games played out much as you would have anticipated I think. Bloomhearts had a bye against Aberdeen, Motherwell won again, Leith couldn’t follow up a big win over Celtic, the bottom two played like the bottom two. I didn’t see Falkirk rumping Killie although it’s no surprise they won. Basically the top 6 had their way with the bottom 6.
My high point of Saturday was the Motherwell penalty after a VAR review. Ref Nick Walsh was looking the other way when Vicko Sevelj gave Maswanhise a private nudge.
I say that’s what happened but despite watching numerous replays I can’t tell what happened from the cracking camera angle we got. If it was violent conduct then it should be a red card so let’s assume it was mischievous conduct instead.
Sunday was Rangers First Half All Stars v Celtic Second Half Comeback Bhoys. A draw never looked likely at half time but in the end was about right and a big boost for the Bloomhearts and Motherwell.
Rangers took the lead from an exhilarating overhead kick from Youssef Chermiti.
It was a goal that broke Ian Crocker’s voicebox as it hit a previously unrecorded pitch.
Chermiti’s second goal was a lovely finish too and really Rangers could have been looking at 3 or 4 skud at this stage.
Martin O’Neill celebrated his birthday by bringing on previously out of form Reo Hatate. The Japanese maestro turned the game for Celtic while pundits Arfield, Boyd and McFadden butchered his name into Ha-Tattie.
An injury time penalty gave the laughing spud a chance to equalise which he duly did on the second rebound as the Rangers players played musical statues.
A bit of post match handbags and we move on. Rangers will kick themselves, Celtic go to Aberdeen.
